More Positive Milestones for Bonjeck
Remember Bonjeck? When he first came into the charity's care, he had been living as stray and was wasting away due to chronic diarrhoea, caused by severe inflammation of his digestive tract - a condition that was further exacerbated by cat flu symptoms and a diagnosis of FIV.
Whilst his recovery remains ongoing, under the loving care of our volunteer and veterinary teams, his transformation thus far has been nothing short of miraculous.
From a shadow of a cat, painfully-thin, perpetually trembling and encrustated in his own waste, he has blossomed into a beautiful, glossy-furred ginger Tom. Whilst his digestive system remains fragile and he still requires daily medication and a diet of specialised gastro-intestinal food, the improvement is obvious.
His poo is now often solid and healthy in appearance and he's using his litter tray much like any ordinary cat would. He has visibly gained weight and his bright orange fur has regained some lustre. His cat flu symptoms are now only mild, when they are present at all.
There is still progress to be made both in terms of Bonjeck's health and his relationship with humans, as he continues to regard our volunteers with some uncertainty. For cats who've suffered traumatic lives on the streets, the emotional recovery is often a far more gradual process than the physical.
Nevertheless, there is no doubt that this young Tom is considerably happier, healthier, and more comfortable than when he arrived at our Clinic all those weeks ago. That broken cat is long gone, and that is something to be celebrated.
Thank you to all who donated towards Bonjeck's veterinary bills and upkeep; you made this transformation possible.
