Special Adoption Appeal for Pippa
15-year-old Pippa is an extremely gentle and friendly cat with a calm and undemanding temperament. Her loving and well-balanced disposition has endured in spite of the considerable upheaval she has experienced in recent months, being rehomed at this senior stage in her life. This is a testament to how resilient, adaptable, and good-natured she really is.
It’s therefore especially sad that Pippa has been overlooked by adopters for several months now. We suspect this is because she is an older cat, and because she has a condition called hyperthyroidism, which some prospective adopters may find intimidating. Whilst we can understand this to some extent, Pippa’s condition is very common among older felines and is currently quite easily managed with twice daily-medication. Giving this medication to Pippa isn’t too much of a chore, either; due to her gentle personality, she takes pills without much fuss.
As long as Pippa’s medication is regularly administered, her quality of life remains high and her ongoing prognosis is positive - she may have many years of life ahead of her and we very much hope that they will be spent in a loving, committed home. She is far from a frail old lady - she is bright and curious, and looks far younger than her years. She can be a little shy when she meets new people or when she enters new situations, and she does like to lounge around her foster home, napping in cosy spots or even sometimes on her foster carer’s laps, but this is because she naturally has a calm energy. This is an enviable temperament in a cat - take it from us!
To compliment Pippa’s serene nature, we’re looking for a fairly serene home - not too busy or hectic, and where she can be the only pet. Ideally, it would also be a home with access to a safe garden, or a small outside space, such as a fully-cat-proofed balcony (we can advise on cat-proofing options).
As she is a senior cat, is important that Pippa's future adopters keep on top of her health, and they are welcome to do so with the support of Catcuddles and our North London Cat Clinic. Our veterinary team absolutely love to assist in the care of former Catcuddles’ cats. As with all cats adopted from Catcuddles, Pippa will also be insured for the first five weeks in her new home. Although her pre-existing condition of hyperthyroidism will be excluded from this insurance, it is important for other matters relating to her health and we recommend continuing insurance beyond this five-week window.
If you are interested in adopting Pippa, then please make an adoption enquiry via our website, at https://www.catcuddles.org.uk/adoption-enquiry. No matter what stage they are in their lives, all cats deserve love, care, and a family and a home to call their own. We hope that there is someone out there who can offer this lovely, gentle girl just that, and soon..
