Tom

14 year old mini panther Tom is a friendly, loving cat looking for a loving retirement home.

Like us humans, most cats don’t reach their 70s without some health conditions. Tom has recently been diagnosed with hyperthyrodism, for which he receives medication for twice a day.

Monitoring at home such as weight checks and vet check-ups are essential to monitor his health but hyperthyroidism is a common condition that mostly affects senior cats; with the right treatment and regular health checks, cats with hyperthyroidism enjoy a good quality of life.

Tom’s adopter should be financially comfortable to cover the costs of having a senior cat with a health condition to cover his medication, blood tests, urine monitoring and blood pressure checks that he will need to manage his condition. Tom’s health needs and care routine can be discussed further with the adoptions team; Catcuddles will be with you every step of the way pre and post adoption.

Tom would love a home with a quiet back garden for him to potter around in but could potentially live in a spacious, indoor home if the home otherwise suits his needs. Anyone adopting an indoor cat from us needs to be committed to creating a stimulating and enriching indoor environment and ensuring it is safe, i.e. cat proofing any windows that will be opened, and fully cat proofing a balcony, terrace or garden if there is one. Our adoptions team can offer further advice on this.

Often overlooked due to their age and medical conditions, adopting a senior cat can be incredibly rewarding. Adopting a cat with health conditions requires commitment, patience, and ongoing medical care. However, the love and companionship you receive in return are immeasurable. If you're ready to provide a loving home to a cat in need and are financially comfortable to do so, consider adopting Tom.

Tom is being fostered within the London Borough of Bexley.
