Celebrating Gutsy's 3rd birthday
The term ‘foster fail’ is widely used to describe when a foster cat ends up becoming a permanent member of their foster family. Amongst the Catcuddles volunteer team, this has happened to many of us! For Gutsy, an extraordinary cat who has triumped over adversity, ‘failiure’ seems wholly inadequate.
Rescued in August 2021 with his mum and 3 siblings, Gutsy faced chalenges from the outset. He arrived with cat flu and a necrotic wound that required flushing and debriding. It was clear he needed dedicated care, so Gutsy and his family were signed over to Catcuddles.
After a course of antibiotics and eye drops, little Gutsy was still sniffly and congested and much smaller than his siblings; his ardous start in the world a legacy that will remain with him for life.
It has not been an easy ride for Gutsy but it is without a doubt that him being here today, celebrating his third birthday is down to his determination, the tireless efforts of his adopters, advocating for him at every opportunity and the supportive veterinary team drawing upon their feline medicine experience to put together treatment protocols for him. Today he is a happy, mischievous young cat, still sniffly but his spirit remains bright throughout.
