🎄 Last 2021 Multi-cat rescue: A near- Christmas miracle 🎄
In 12 years of life, Catcuddles has helped countless mums & kittens but only 1 large litter of 8, many years ago, with mum just about coping by the time we stepped in and losing one of the babies before it got to 8 weeks.
And then, just over a week ago we got a request for help from a young woman who found herself helping an abandoned young cat from Wembley who ended up giving birth to 9 (!) kittens!
By some miracle, all 10 were well, still alive, by now in South London and the babies had made it to 3.5 weeks all alive. Both the young samaritan and her mum sounded genuinely overwhelmed and looking for help by a charity that could take over quickly. We immediately sprang to action and within 24 hours one of our amazing fostering volunteer couples took on the challenge of welcoming and partly hand rearing 9 hungry mouths and an exhausted but devoted mum cat.
With 24/7 access to vet advice and support, we thought our chances at keeping all 9 kittens alive was as good as these little ones got. We gave it a little while to spread the word on social media, to ensure all we’re making great progress and no failing kitten was to surprise us in the early days.
We called the mum Georgiana, after her human rescuer, and waited for the little ones to grow a bit before we chanced naming them too soon.
Another 10 charity funded kitties in one go at a time when the Clinic is without a full time vet and limited income… still, “no” was not an option.
So, if you all lovely CatCuddles supporters, followers and fans are looking to do one more good deed this Christmas and help us meet the costs of this super young family for the months they will be with us and cover their full vet costs, please donate. We are always in need of donations, but especially with such long stays and multicat rescues that can easily put us back by ÂŁthousands.
We may not have the tv ads and sad stories to publicise to pull heart strings. Instead, we offer happy kitty endings that come after a great deal of selfless work by a good number of people, work done in silence most of the year, including the Holidays.
