An Overwhelming Response to our Most Recent Fundraising Appeal
We are amazed and humbled by the response to our most recent fundraising appeal on behalf of a frail and elderly cat who needed urgent veterinary care. Whilst we were hopeful that we would be able to meet our target and bring this cat to safety, we never envisioned such a huge outpouring of support, or that we would surpass our goal within an hour.
Although the charity is going through a tough time at the moment, we know it is also a tough time for many people, and that makes your generosity all the more touching. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful community behind us, and we cannot thank you enough.
We also have a very positive update on the cat, whose rescue was made possible by your donations. As you may recall, the thin and fragile-looking cat had appeared one day on a local person's doorstep, and did not budge from the spot for days. With funds being short at CatCuddles, we reached out for help and you provided it, allowing us to bring the cat out of the rain and into emergency foster care, where it quickly became clear that 'she' was actually a neutered male. A vet assessment was planned for the next day.
Before that appointment, the cat's potential owner was identified, and contact was made. Though we won't share specifics here for privacy reasons, it transpired that the cat was a much-loved pet, initially rescued as a stray, who had been missing for weeks. He was feared passed away due to his advanced age - he is approximately 18!
That this boy came into the charity's care was serendipitous, because he has a number of health issues that CatCuddles can now work with his family to help treat and get under control at our North London clinic. He has FIV likely from his early days as a stray, chronic kidney disease, cystitis, dental issues, anemia, and an underlying internal infection. He must have been very uncomfortable indeed during his time spent lost on the streets, and it is no wonder that he sought help from a kind person. He is very lucky.
For the foreseeable future, we will help with managing his vet care to make him as healthy and comfortable as possible, so that he may enjoy whatever time he has left at home where he belongs. For all those who responded to our appeal, whether you donated five pounds or fifty, you should know that we are able to make this happen because of you. This boy is safe at home tonight, and that's a direct result of your kindness.
Your donations will also be used for the day-to-day running of the charity, for the rescue and rehoming of many more deserving cats like this boy, at a time when funds are otherwise short.
Thank you.
